After years of false starts the Tupac biopic All Eyez on Me is finally a reality, and today on what would have been Pac’s 45th birthday the first teaser trailer for the film has hit the net. Staring Demetrius Shipp as Tupac, the film is directed by Benny Boom and is currently set for a November 11th release, just a few months after the 20th anniversary of Pac’s murder in Las Vegas.
The trailer is promising, as we finally get the first look at Shipp actually speaking as Tupac and he’s a dead ringer for the legendary icon. We also get a fiery Danai Gurira as the late Afeni Shakur, and it appears her role in the film will unsurprisingly be a significant one. Glimpses of other major players are seen like Dominic L. Santana as Suge Knight and even Maino pops up as Pac associate Walter “King Tut” Johnson.
All Eyez on Me went through its share of turmoil during production including lawsuits and numerous director changes. After settling on Boom before the rights to the film reverted back to the estate last year production got underway in Atlanta and eventually filming wrapped in Las Vegas back in April.
It’s been a long road getting here, but All Eyez on Me is finally imminent, now we just have to hope it’s good.
